Speckled Pea Microgreen Seeds
Speckled Pea Microgreen Seeds are an excellent choice for producing pea shoots, known for their outstanding quality and high germination rates. These organic pea seeds can be sprouted or grown into pea shoots, which are a favorite among our staff. Pea sprouts are a delightful addition to salads and can be enjoyed shortly after they “pop” or have grown their first or second set of true leaves.
Key Features:
- High Germination Rates: Only stocking seeds with exceptional germination rates.
- Organic: Certified organic for the highest quality produce.
- Versatile: Can be sprouted or grown into pea shoots.
Growing Directions:
- Soaking: Soak seeds in cold water for 4-6 hours. Use plenty of water and a large bowl, as the peas will absorb a significant amount of water.
- Pre-Sprouting: After soaking, you can plant the seeds directly or transfer them to a colander. Rinse and drain 2-4 times a day in the colander for another day or two until the seedlings begin to peek out.
- Planting: Tamp the soil gently to flatten it. Spread the seeds evenly over the soil, ensuring they are quite thick. Gently tamp them to ensure contact with the soil.
- Watering and Light: Mist thoroughly twice a day. Keep the seeds covered with a blackout/humidity dome for 2-3 more days before exposing them to light. Water once a day so the soil remains damp but not soggy.
Growing Environment:
- Soil: Pea microgreens, also known as pea shoots, typically have prominent root systems, making soil the preferred growing medium. The roots like to burrow and explore the soil, providing a strong foundation for the shoots to grow.
- Hydroponics: It is possible to grow pea microgreens hydroponically with the right medium, ensuring they receive adequate nutrients and support.
Culinary Uses:
- Salads: Add pea sprouts to salads for a fresh, crunchy texture and a burst of flavor.
- Garnishes: Use pea shoots as a vibrant and tasty garnish for various dishes.
- Snacks: Enjoy them as a healthy snack on their own.
Speckled Pea Microgreen Seeds are a versatile and flavorful addition to any garden. Their ease of growth, high germination rates, and culinary versatility make them a staple in any microgreen collection.
